Liga MB Round 1 (Regular Season): Metapan roll past Brujos

The Regular Season in Liga MB just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Metapan defeated Brujos at home 74-70. American swingman Eddie Ishman (197-1986, college: Miles) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Center Marco Tejada (194-1984) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Julio Crespin (184-1997) produced 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Brujos will play next round against A.Lobos trying to get back on the winning streak. Metapan will try to continue on its current victory against Santiagueno in Usultan.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Santa Tecla in San Salvador. Visitors were rolled over by Salvadorenos 89-63. Worth to mention a great performance of Emanuel Rodriguez who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 assists. Brayan Garcia contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Salvadorenos' coach Sergio Rouco felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) answered with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for Santa Tecla. Salvadorenos will play against Santa Ana on the road in the next round. Santa Tecla will have a break next round.
An interesting game where Santa Ana beat host A.Lobos 73-66 on Wednesday evening. Timothy Simmons stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. At the losing side Sean Scott responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds. A.Lobos' coach Marlon Viana rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Santa Ana will meet at home Salvadorenos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. A.Lobos will play against Brujos in Izalco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 1 San Salvador defeated Fantasmas in a road game 91-75.



Salvadorenos - Santa Tecla 89-63

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Santa Tecla in San Salvador. Visitors were rolled over by Salvadorenos 89-63. Salvadorenos forced 26 Santa Tecla turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Santa Tecla's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Emanuel Rodriguez who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 assists. Power forward Brayan Garcia (194-1998) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Salvadorenos players scored in double figures. A.Lobos - Santa Ana 66-73

An interesting game where Santa Ana beat host A.Lobos 73-66 on Wednesday evening. Santa Ana dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to A.Lobos' 36. They outrebounded A.Lobos 51-38 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Santa Ana looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by A.Lobos' players. American Timothy Simmons (195-1992, college: DBU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and Lee Vasquez (176-1991) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Santa Ana players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Sean Scott (190-1997, college: Pfeiffer) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Guatemalan point guard David Vasquez (-1992, college: Umpqua CC) scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. A.Lobos' coach Marlon Viana rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Santa Ana will meet at home Salvadorenos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. But Fantasmas were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from San Salvador 91-75 on Wednesday night. American guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997) stepped up and scored 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and point guard Martin Ramos (171-1992) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Five San Salvador players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Nick Moore (198-1991, college: Alliance) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import point guard Darius Daniels (178-1997) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. San Salvador will meet at home Santiagueno in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fantasmas will play against Cojute in Cojutepeque and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
